Our first chickens came to the ranch in 2003, shortly after the dairy cows left. Since then many breeds of chickens have graced the property, but our favorite are the Orpingtons. The first batch of chicks we got in the mail were buff Orpingtons. More recently we acquired a group of blue Orpingtons and they are absolutely gorgeous! We plan to build our flock of blues and concentrate mainly on this breed in the future. Nothing beats a decorative bug catcher that gives you breakfast! |

We have enjoyed our chickens immensely but nothing is cuter than a flock of ducklings. A flock of many different breeds of ducks and a few geese decorate the lawn out on the ranch. The rare breeds are favorites of ours because of the unique colors and often quiet dispositions they offer. The ducks we have are Silver Appleyard, Saxony, Miniature Silver Appleyards and Bantam Silkies. Our geese are American Buffs except for Brenda, our lonely Sebastopol. |

And just for fun…Here are some pictures of other birds we’ve raised or are currently raising. |
